David Tran's Bio

David Tran is a graduate of the acclaimed Orange County High School of the Arts. His most notable credit at OCHSA was playing Stephan Mead Johnson, and others, in "The Laramie Project". David’s training continued for two years with Cal State Fullerton’s theater department before he ventured to Los Angeles to study with renowned acting instructor, Bill Alderson, where he graduated from the two-year Meisner acting program in 2008. His other credits include, a lead role in Quentin Lee’s indie drama, "Ethan Mao", which premiered at AFI Film Festival; a co-starring role on CBS’ "How I Met Your Mother"; a series regular on a sketch comedy pilot, "Improv High"; featured in an MTV promo spoofing MTV Movie Award nominee, "The Hangover," where he portrayed Ken Jeong in the infamous naked car trunk scene; was in a national commercial for McDonald's on Asian-language networks; played the part of Rudy, in Martin Sherman's "Bent," (*winner of Broadway World's Best Intimate Theater Production); and has also worked in commercials, print and music videos. The short film, "Bananas" starring Jayma Mays, that David was featured in, won the Audience Award at LA's Comedy Fest. David is currently developing a short film and web series. He is also now a Celebration Theatre company member.
